Friday 24th April, 2015
An evening with Sheffield United Legends Bob Booker & Alan Birchenall took place on Friday 24th April at Firth Park WMC - this was also a charity evening with money raised on the night in aid of Macmillan Nurses.
The evening began appropriately in remembering lifelong Blades fan David Spencer known as 'Shred' who sadly passed away at the end of February this year - a vociferous round of applause followed in memory of a 100% Unitedite.
During the evening Bob and Alan (known as 'The Birch'), recalled their own memories of their time at The Lane which between them covered three decades of discussion.
Favourite moments included - Bob gaining promotion with The Blades up to the Premier League in 1990 under manager Dave Bassett and Birch with a dream start to his Sheffield United career in 1964 scoring both goals against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in a 0 v 2 victory at Hillsborough.
Birch also entertained the Firth Park audience with unbelievable stories, mainly off the pitch, as he enjoyed his time at Chelsea.
All in all , another enjoyable football evening at Firth Park WMC'
Friday 16th May 2014
On Friday 16th May, there was another entertaining evening at Firth Park WMC with Sheffield United legends Tony Kenworthy & Keith Edwards
Tony Kenworthy spent the majority of his footballing careeer with the Blades in the 70s & 80s - described as a 'no-nonsense' and 'hard as nails' defender for who Bramall Lane was truly where his heart was. At the other end of the pitch, Keith Edwards spent around half of his career with the Blades at roughly the same time. A prolific centre forward of his day with an incrdible goal to appearance ratio that many strikers can only dream of.
It was nearly 40 years ago that they arrived as teenagers serving apprenticeships at Sheffield United and also, by coincidence, happened to share the same digs
They laughed together as they recalled stories and memories together of their adventures - usually off the pitch!
In particular , Keith referred to one time when he asked Tony to go 'downtown' with him in Sheffield - Keith's idea was for a few drinks.
Tony's was to go round the shops and do some shopping - not really what Keith had in mind which amused the Firth Park audience.
The pair were extremely well received on the night both on and off the stage and they ended the evening by emphasising their love for the club and fans - both then and now despite neither being natives of Sheffield to which the audience showed their appreciation and gratitude to these legends who proudly sported the colours of the red and white of Sheffield United'
Friday 7th February 2014
On Friday 7th February 2014 , there was literally a 'fan-tastic' evening at Firth Park WMC with another Sheffield United Legend, Bob Booker
A midfielder signed by Dave Bassett for the Blades from Brentford in 1988 who became a cult figure amongst the Blades faithful for his endeavour on the pitch and his all round dedication to both the club & supporters.
On the night , he recalled many interesting & entertaining stories from his time at the club , both on & off the pitch , which were extremely well received
His popularity , both then & now , is evident as fans queued up to talk to him , embrace him & give thanks & appreciation of his time
at Sheffield United - he was clearly humbled by the incredible reception that he received.
This was topped at the end of the evening as the packed Firth Park chanted ' Ooh Ah Bob Booker ' & followed by , at Bob's request , everyone
joining in a rendition of 'The Greasy Chip Butty Song'
A fitting end to another very enjoyable football evening in a tremendous atmosphere at Firth Park WMC
Next football evening there , coming soon - look out for details here
Friday 20th September 2013
An Evening with Paul Peschisolido & Rob Kozluk ( Pesch & Kozzy )
Another full house at Firth Park WMC in Sheffield to see these two former Blades fans favourites
We knew we were in for a good night when I asked Kozzy what he would be if he hadn't been a footballer to which he responded ' a pigeon ' - the whole room erupted into hysterical laughter along with his explanation of this & that really set the scene for the evening
Kozzy, signed for Sheffield United by manager Steve Bruce in 1999 and spent much his time there under manager Neil Warnock - of whom he does a great impression...!
His reputation as the dressing room joker at the club is now well understood by everyone there on the evening as he recalled the jokes & pranks that he used to play.
Pesch, signed for The Blades by Neil Warnock in 2001after an initial loan spell with the club
A popular and talented Canadian striker and a key player for them in the 2002 -2003 season and known for scoring important goals in key games.
He recalled his enjoyable time spent at the club & also how he used to come in to training early to listen to Kozzy's jokes
He talked about his life and football career , club and country ,in Canada before leaving and coming over to England - a very likeable and interesting guy
Overall , an excellent evening enjoyed by everyone
Many thanks to everyone for the great feedback and the fantastic reviews that have been put on the message boards about the evening - watch this space for the next evening back there!
An Evening with Dave Bassett on Friday 17th May 2013
Dave Bassett , better known as ‘Harry’, entertained a full and lively Firth Park WMC in Sheffield.
A popular manager during his time at Sheffield United in the late 80s to mid 90s
which was reflected by the warm reception that he received. He recounted stories in his unmistakable cockney accent from his days as Wimbledon manager and the evolution of the Crazy Gang – renowned members and characters such as Lawrie Sanchez , Vinnie Jones and Denis Wise to name a few and had the room rocking with laughter.
He also talked about his short spell at Watford, recruited as manager by Elton John before taking charge of The Blades in January 1988 and subsequently taking them to two successive promotions in the 88/89 & 89/90 seasons
A full and interesting life in various football roles that was well received by all – an excellent evening of entertainment

In March 2011 , following on from the successful event at Sheffield United at the end of last year , these two legends and great friends Tony Currie & Alan Birchenall followed on with another hugely successful event , presented by Sarah Robertson at Firth Park WMC where they entertained a full house there with more amusing stories and recalling memories from their playing days at Sheffield United and living in Sheffield at the time. Former Sheffield United players Len Badger & Ted Hemsley again supported the event which added to the banter in the room.
'An Evening with Alan Birchenall and Tony Currie', Sheffield United F.C., 18th Nov 2010
The event was a great success and the room was laughing from the beginning of the evening until the end - even the raffle was turned into a comedy ! Alan & Tony were hilarious together!
They recalled stories from their playing days and Alan also vividly remembered stories, as if it was only yesterday, let alone 40+ years ago, from his time of playing and living in Sheffield which the audience loved. There were also a couple of former players at the event which were literally sitting targets for some of the jokes & stories recalled by the two legends.
The audience played their part in the evening also with so many interesting questions that were asked and of course , the evening could not pass without the story behind the famous kiss being told - after all 'It started with a kiss' for the ongoing friendship of these two great former players. See Alan and Tony in action below!!!!
'The Red & Blue Xmas Cracker at The Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough on Thursday 3rd December 2009'
A great night was enjoyed by all with plenty of Forest & Leicester banter prior to the big local derby game on Saturday 5th December

Thank you again for your part in last night's event & support.
'A Nostalgia Evening at Worcester City with Roger Davies'
In October 2009, Roger returned to one his former clubs , Worcester City, for the first time since 1971.
Roger only played seven games there but also scored seven goals during his brief time - which is where he was first spotted by Peter Taylor and subsequently watched by Brian Clough before signing for Derby County.
The evening was particularly nostalgic for Roger, and the audience listened with interest to his career before, during and after his time at Worcester City and some of the amusing stories and the memories that he shared with them.
